Terms of use

Use the calculators as preliminary planning aids. Verify quantities, conditions, instructions, and local requirements before buying material or starting work.

Estimates only

Results are mathematical estimates based only on the values entered and the assumptions shown on the page. They cannot inspect a site, confirm measurements, choose a product, predict workmanship, account for hidden damage, or guarantee supplier stock. Waste, breakage, settling, compaction, coverage, density, pattern matching, cuts, and package yield can differ from a planning preset.

Check the calculation, field measurements, package quantity, and purchasing unit before ordering. A recommended quantity rounds up as described in the calculator methodology, but that rounding does not cover every project contingency. You are responsible for deciding whether a result is suitable for the actual project.

Instructions and local rules

The current product label, manufacturer instructions, technical data, and warranty terms take precedence over a general calculator or guide. Local code, permit, inspection, property-line, utility-location, environmental, accessibility, fire, structural, and safety requirements also take precedence. Requirements vary by place and may change.

Obtain the appropriate supplier, installer, engineer, architect, surveyor, utility, code official, or other qualified review when a project depends on professional judgment. The site does not approve construction, certify a design, issue a permit, establish a boundary, or confirm that a material assembly is safe or code-compliant.

Warranty and acceptable use

The site and its content are provided on an “as available” basis without a promise that every estimate will be complete, current, uninterrupted, or error-free. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Material Math Guide does not make warranties about merchantability, fitness for a particular project, or results obtained from use. Nothing here excludes a right or responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Do not use the site to misrepresent professional approval, bypass safety or permit requirements, overload or disrupt the service, probe for unauthorized access, copy content in a way that falsely claims authorship, or automate requests that materially impair access for others. If you do not accept these boundaries, do not rely on the calculators for a purchasing or project decision.
